How to check for wear
The disc hub takes real load, so it needs a double-taper roller bearing, not the double-row ball bearing most bearing shops will hand you, which won't take the load and will fail. Check the hub bearing for side-to-side play and spin it for any rumble or roughness that signals worn internals or dry, contaminated grease. Note the OEM hub bearings aren't sold separately by the dealer, so with a genuine setup you replace the whole hub, which is the expensive way to do it.
