Terms of supply
How we quote, what a price includes, and where you stand on delivery, returns and fitment. Plain terms for a trade that runs on quotes, not checkouts.
These terms apply to every quote we issue and every order we accept. Reading them takes a few minutes and saves the argument nobody wants at harvest.
1. Who you're dealing with
Fairfield Parts is a trading name of Aubrey Commercial Services, based in the United Kingdom. Everything on this site is sold by us as an independent supplier of aftermarket parts. Reach us at [email protected].
2. Who these terms are for
We sell to farms, contractors and dealers, so these terms are written for business customers. If you are buying as a consumer rather than for a business, your statutory rights apply in full and nothing here reduces them.
3. Prices on this site
Published prices are trade prices in pounds sterling and exclude VAT. They are an invitation to enquire, not a binding offer. Parts marked Price on quote are ones we have not finished benchmarking, and we price them when you ask.
Where we show a genuine equivalent figure, it is the lowest published UK dealer list price we could find for the matching manufacturer part, ex VAT, on the date stated. It is there for comparison only and it moves when the manufacturer reprices.
Prices can change without notice. The price on your quote is the one that counts.
4. Quotes
Sending a basket or an enquiry is a request for a quote. It does not commit you to anything and it does not reserve stock.
We reply with a written quote covering confirmed part numbers, prices, carriage and lead time. Quotes are valid for 14 days unless the quote itself says otherwise, and they are subject to stock and to fitment being confirmed.
5. Orders
An order is placed when you accept a quote in writing, by email or by message. A contract exists once we confirm your order back to you. We can decline an order, and we will say why if we do.
We take no payment through this website. There is no checkout, and we will never ask for card details on a web form.
6. Minimum order
Our minimum order is £100 ex VAT. Below that we add a £25 small-order charge, shown on the quote before you accept it. Picking, packing and posting one small item costs more than the item earns, and we would rather charge for it openly than hide it in every price on the site.
7. Payment
Payment terms are stated on your quote and invoice. New customers pay before dispatch. Where we have agreed an account, invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice date. Goods remain our property until they are paid for in full, and we may charge interest and reasonable recovery costs on overdue invoices under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
8. Delivery and lead times
Carriage is quoted per order and charged at cost. Lead times are stated on your quote. Much of the range is imported, so lead time depends on what is already landed in the UK and what has to come in, and we tell you which applies to your parts before you commit.
Delivery dates are estimates given in good faith. We are not liable for delays caused by carriers, customs, weather or anything else outside our reasonable control, though we will keep you informed and do what we can.
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please check the consignment on arrival and tell us about shortages or transit damage within three working days, with photographs where you can, so we can put a claim in while it still stands.
9. Fitment and compatibility
Part numbers from equipment manufacturers appear on this site as compatibility references. They tell you what our part fits. They do not indicate the origin of the part, and our parts are not manufacturer originals.
Openers were revised over the years, so we confirm fitment against your drill and opener series before we quote. That check depends on the information you give us. If you tell us the wrong opener series, or the machine has had units swapped, the parts we quote may not suit. When you are not sure, send a photograph of the opener or the number off the old part and we will work it out with you.
10. Returns
Tell us before you send anything back so we can give you a return reference. Unused parts in resaleable condition and original packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Return carriage is yours unless the part is faulty or we sent the wrong item, in which case we cover it. Parts sourced specially to your order may carry a restocking charge, which we will tell you about before we order them in.
Fitted parts, parts that have been in the ground and parts modified after delivery cannot be returned.
11. Warranty
Parts are warranted against manufacturing defects for 12 months from delivery. If a part fails in that period because of how it was made, we will replace it or refund it, at our option, once we have seen it or clear photographs of it.
These are wear parts, so normal wear in service is not a defect. The warranty does not cover damage from incorrect fitting, running the machine outside the manufacturer's settings, impact damage, corrosion from storage, or use on machines the part was not quoted for.
12. Liability
Our liability for any order is limited to the price you paid for the goods in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost crop, lost yield, machine downtime, hire of replacement machinery or loss of profit.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
13. Your information
When you send an enquiry we keep your name, contact details, machine details and the parts you asked about, so that we can quote and supply. We use it to answer you and to run the order. We do not sell it and we do not pass it to anyone beyond the carriers and suppliers who need it to fulfil your order. Ask us and we will tell you what we hold or delete it.
14. Third-party names
Manufacturer names, model names and part numbers referred to on this site are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and compatibility only.
15. General
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. We may update these terms, and the version published here when we issue your quote is the version that applies to that order. These terms and any contract under them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
